If you're quick, you can catch the fab documentary about seminal Liverpool nitespot Eric's on the BBC's listen again thingy. It's up for another two days at time of writing.
An aside to the above- in the documentary, Steve Lamacq continually refers to David Balfe as a "former Teardrop Explode", i.e. as one of The Teardrop Explodes. I always thought that in the group's name (The Teardrop Explodes), the word Explodes was employed as an intransitive verb. So it's a short sentence. That's certainly how it was used in the Marvel comic strip from which they took their name.
Have I been wrong all these years? Were they really The Teardrop Explodes, i.e. a plural noun? Like The Smiths or The Cramps or The Ramones?
Err, I've just checked Ripping Records website, th tickets are £20, so I think I'll have to give it a miss. ACR's only £15, so I'll prob be at that one
From Shakatak to Shostakovich, Ronnie Hazelhurst to Roni Size, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to NoMeansNo, Candi Statton to Candi Payne, Aphex Twin to the Andrews Sisters. MP3s, unsupported assertions and contentious drivel.
Please note, all music on the site is for evaluation purposes only. Play once and then delete! If you like it, go out and buy the CD or the download. Oh, and if you're the copyright holder and don't like free publicity, let me know in the comments and I'll remove it.

You should drop Steve a line and tell him. Although he might get upset and carve 4 REAL into his arm
Mr. Plamf. Is there any interest from your end in seeing Mark Stewart and the Maffia at Edinburgh's Voodoo Rooms next Thurs?
